| I know it's been happening for a while know, but lately it seems that Oregon wines have really been coming to the forefront. And it's about time isn't it? California has had its time to shine as an American wine producer and, sure, they're great and everything, but isn't part of being a "real" wine fan to try something new and different? But buying a bottle of wine by yourself just to get a taste of it and decide if it's something you want can be cost prohibitive. Well my friend, if trying out different wines is your game, than nothing will meet your needs quite like getting into wine tasting. The best place to get into Oregon wine tasting is, unsurprisingly, in Oregon! The best place to taste Oregon wines is in the tasting rooms. Wineries set aside space for a tasting room, flinging the doors open to visiting enthusiasts. These tasting rooms vary in quality, quantity, and variety of the wine from winery to winery, but they are easily the best way to take a dive into wine culture and explore some new flavors. So you find yourself in the Oregon wine country and you're wondering how to get the most bang for your buck. The answer to that is easy: participate in a region tour. The 16 wine regions in Oregon are all served by loyal wine drinkers, and to be frank, astute business types alike. Why go to the trouble of going to a region only to check out a single winery when you can take a wine country tour? Not a fan of tours? Oregon is full of wine lovers, and a great place to get into wine tasting is in any of the many wine clubs throughout the state. While most of these will likely value tasting of wines from many different states, countries and regions, there are also some dedicated solely to Oregon wines. As a very progressive state, sustainability and local support is important to Oregon residents. This "locavore" attitude is reflected especially when it comes to wine. These wine clubs often make special relationships with the many wineries of Oregon to work out special discounts on the cost of wines used in the tasting. This works to the benefit of all those involved, as wineries build their reputation and bring their wines to the attention of wine lovers, while the wine lovers get to sample delicious new Oregon wines. |
