Why Oregon Wine?

American wines have struggled for decades to earn the same status and respect as their European cousins. Steeped in ancient recipes and family vineyard traditions, these European wineries have had been prominent for centuries. But in the recent decades, wineries in other parts of the world have begun to rise to prominence, particularly on America’s west coast. In the recent past California has been the star of the show for America's wine industry. But now, the state of Oregon has risen to a world-class wine growing region.

I know it's been happening for a while know, but lately it seems that Oregon wines have really been coming to the forefront. And it's about time isn't it? California has had its time to shine as an American wine producer and, sure, they're great and everything, but isn't part of being a "real" wine fan to try something new and different?

By now, you may have decided to give Oregon wines a try. What can I say? I'm a fan and I think you should be too. If you have given it a try, you're doing yourself a favor. Eco-warriors love the state's attitude towards sustainability, traditionalists love the care and craftsmanship, and just-plain-wine lovers love the seriously good wines.

 
Oregon Wine Festivals

At wine festivals, wine enthusiasts gather together much like the assorted foodies and beer drinkers at big showcasing events. These events are enjoyable and sometimes gala affairs that run the gamut between personable and comfortable affairs to the more upscale and sometimes snobbish. While the idea of poking around at a wine festival may be intimidating, especially to the amateur wine enthusiasts, there is almost nothing to it.

Even nearing on 80 years following the end of prohibition, the ghosts of the "Noble Experiment," as some call it, continue to haunt both wine and beer lovers to this day. Following the repeal of the American prohibition on alcohol, the different states began to hammer out their own laws concerning the shipping of alcohol, both inside and outside of the state. While this move was undoubtedly a victory for states rights, it has not worked out so well for wine enthusiasts.
